The Way Forward – Shared Responsibility
The Mount Isa RJC Local Workforce Community Forum, held on 13 August 2024, was a significant gathering of stakeholders united in addressing the unique workforce challenges of the Mount Isa Local Government Area (LGA). Representatives from all levels of government, education and training providers, community organisations, industry leaders, and employment services came together to share insights and drive strategic conversations around building a more resilient and inclusive workforce.
A key message emerging from the forum was the importance of shared responsibility. Achieving Mount Isa’s priorities—such as economic diversification, upskilling the local workforce, and enhancing livability—requires coordinated efforts from all sectors. Government, employers, industry, communities, individuals, and families must work in partnership to co-design solutions that are tailored to local needs, ensuring no group is left behind.
The forum outcomes will directly inform the development of the Mount Isa RJC’s Annual Action Plan, setting the direction for future workforce initiatives. This collective approach to identifying priorities and driving change reflects a shared commitment to building a prosperous, community-driven future for Mount Isa and surrounding regions.
